Temps in Henderson Nevada were forecast to go above 100 degrees, so I loaded up my car and started back to WA. I wanted to break up the drive with a hike, so I stopped at North Schell. The camping area at the trailhead is really nice with a creek and paper birch trees.

Wheeler through a gap in the ridge
It's a short hike up the drainage and then a west rib. Very windy and cold above 11,000 feet. Minor snow on the summit ridge and excellent views of Wheeler across the valley. It was fun for me to recall snowshoeing that one during the winter with Josh Lewis.

That evening while I was looking for a free place to camp near Mountain Home Idaho, I drove past a sign for the Bruneau Dunes. I had a partial memory about some people on NWH going to these dunes, so I stopped to bag the highest dune. The dunes were set to close in 30 minutes so I had to rush up the sand in time to get the highest one and back out. On the upper ridge a whole class or church group of kids were hanging out and playing.
