As I age I find I enjoy my backyard it's comfortable, mature landscaping, dog and cats wandering around. Knowing that the best is yet to come after the 4th. It starts to dry out, weather improves. Yeah I get out, ever other weekend chasing morels, cutting firewood. Trying to finish the honeydew list early. But after the 4th! Then I can spend my free time until the snow falls doing what I love. Poking around the backcountry, encouraging my buddies that their knees can handle another off trail route. Coming into work after another 3 day weekend, satisfied that it was good and next weekend is just around the corner. Late September early October. Larch season. Ski season is just around the corner... WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SUMMER?

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

Fresh cherries to eat. Yum!

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Raspberries! Blueberries! Summer apples! Tomatoes that taste like tomatoes!

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

What's not to like? The rest of the country is sweltering.

I'm getting impatient waiting for berries! I've had a few salmonberry, hucks and thimbleberries, but I'm ready for the bounty to begin. But yeah, generally speaking summer in the NW is great!

Amen! And another Amen to the berries and summer local apples that taste sweet and tangy at the same time and with juice running down your chin!

But you need excessive heat and humidity to get really good corn. Roadside veggie stands in CT have some amazing corn on the cob. But the price paid(suffering in the heat and humidity) is too high.

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.
