Thought some of you might be interested in this.
For the TL;DR folks: Likely electrical fire from construction tools, but can't be sure.

Interesting. I'd like to read the entire report, but we'll see if my motivation level reaches the same desire!
Now I need to do some digging on the Obstruction Point Road closure due to the Eagle Point and Hurricane Fires - does the Hurricane fire = the visitor center burning down? I vaguely remember hearing about these fires, but didn't do much diggint..

5.3.9.1. Failure of the Makita lithium-ion batteries.
5.3.9.2. Failure of the HILTI lithium-ion batteries.
5.3.9.3. Failure of Panel B
5.3.9.4. Failure of an unknown electrical hazard.
So they couldn't rule out failure of lithium-ion batteries caused the fire. My mind immediately goes to all those fake lithium-ion batteries available on Amazon and AliExpress etc....

If it was the batteries....they should have been stored outside, in a locked container IMO. It's not like the road was open to tweakers for stealing easily. It's the same with charging any lith battery - I have a car charger but it's not in a garage for sure. It's outdoors for that reason. Should my EV decide to go up, it hopefully won't take my home with it. (And for you all....quit charging E bikes in your house!!!!)

Where does Hurricane Ridge get it's electric power?
I don't see any public utility power lines anywhere.
Generators provided power for the ski area, and I assumed a generator provided power for the lodge as well.

That's an interesting thing...the ski lifts used generators. But I don't remember the sound of a generator ever at the lodge. I do know they had buried utilities in the road though, because at one point years ago the road was closed for awhile as they ripped it up......

All the power comes from town in buried lines.

Whose insurance company is going to foot the bill for this? The federal governments' (do NPS lodges even have insurance?) or the construction company whose faulty equipment apparently caused this fire?
