We did an overnight at Butte Camp a couple years ago on Labor Day weekend. Apparently there was a trail running event on the Loowit that weekend and a large group arrived at camp late that night. Maybe try Googling Loowit trail race first. Hope it’s a great hike!

I’ve done the Loowit a few times during this race, I believe they hold it the Saturday of Labor Day weekend every year. It was really no problem. The runners weren’t staying in the campsites and the occasional side step when someone came by wasn’t a big deal. On the plus side, they leave some trail markers for the runners to follow in a few tricky places. That was actually helpful in crossing some of the larger gully’s.

Water sources will be widely dispersed, especially this year. Plan to carry more than normal.
