There shouldn't be any dogs there. Quite clear on the trailhead sign.

An off leash german shepard was chasing a pack of goats. The goats waited for the dog to get to a precarious spot and then one of them butted it.

it's been fixed so that it's publicly accessible.

The owner of that dog should be criminally charged......Plain and simple.

Dog pays the ultimate price for the owner's poor decision. Unfortunately it was not the first time a dog has suffered because the owner made a poor decision and it won't be the last. Dogs are unique among the animal world in that their evolution from wolves is linked so closely with human development. Dogs will do almost anything for their human companion. It is the human's responsibility to look after the dog. Rumi

Someone on Facebook is claiming the dog walked out. Not sure if it's just a sarcastic comment or actually true.

Don't want to watch. I've posted in other threads that an altercation between a goat and a dog very likely will end badly for the dog. This is proof. Feel bad for the dog, but can't find sympathy for the owner. Dogs aren't supposed to be on that trail PERIOD. Off leash dog not under owner's control chasing wildlife, not good. Maybe this will circulate and dog owners will think twice about illegally heading up there with Fido in the the future.

Every dog owner who takes their pet on hikes--and who doesn't bother with a leash--should have to watch this video, multiple times. Think of it as a public service message. That video is hard to watch--and the dog's death is heart-breaking. I've only hiked 96 days so far this year, and I've encountered countless loose dogs, mostly on trails where leashes are required. I usually run into the dog or dogs first, no owner in sight. I haven't been knocked down by a dog yet--but friends of mine have been knocked down--but I've had close calls with groups of loose big dogs. I now have lots of experience whacking loose dogs with my hiking poles but I spare them the carbide tips. My hope is that whacking the loose dogs will 'train' them to avoid hikers.

The righteousness on here is overwhelming at times. It makes me think you'd kick somebody who had fallen on the trail and broken a leg just for having cotton jeans on.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
