(apologies to any NWH who recently did this hike in the fog and sleet...) I've hit this one a few times since the Suiattle River Rd. reopened. Did it in June one year when it was snow covered and in November w/ a dusting of snow and a teeny bit of color hanging on. At the height of fall color is the time to do this one, it was SPECTACULAR! Still a bunch of ripe berries too.

What beautiful pictures! You were so lucky to have such perfect weather, sometimes Glacier Peak can be a little coy about making an appearance.

O you double dog, you! Stunning! I know exactly where that grove of mountain ash is, too. Impressive, no?

I like to believe that fall color in overcast light is great, maybe due to the contrast of reds, oranges, and yellows against gray. Then again, I'm only rationalizing. rolleyes.gif Blue sky and color with low angle fall sun is best, and your pictures are stunning!

I always try to make the best of it, whatever the conditions are. Overcast can create some interesting effects. So can clouds or fog swirling around and giving you occasional views. But I'm never disappointed with a sunny bluebird day! wink.gif

wow, these are some of the more striking PNW fall colors I've seen. Bummed I haven't had a chance to get out yet for the early fall season. Fingers crossed for next weekend.

I don't know about the weather, but I think the colors should be holding on for a while.
