Why thank you, rubywrangler! Like wolffie, I’m an October baby, maybe that’s why I have such an affinity for fall colors.
wolffie, you know what a chicken I am, remember our visit to Granite Mountain a few January’s ago? ‘Course it didn’t help that the retired ranger was telling me how many bodies she helped carry off Granite while she watched me gingerly crawl up that snowy ridge line...
Marta, we were surprised at how few people were at the lake. My brother and I like to go later in the day to get the late afternoon light for picture-taking.
We did see a LOT of very late thru-hikers though. This seems to happen every year, and I feel bad for them, having been myself caught in a series of fall storms on a ten day PCT thru hike in the GPW, back in the early 1970’s.
Wildernessed, I don’t know about any more extended fall incursions after checking the weather forecast, might need to bring snowshoes!

As I recall, it's past the lookout site, lower down (few outhouses are located higher than the summit), and well-camouflaged from above because, as I mentioned, the roof is made of rock shingles that have weathered back into their undisturbed state of lichen/weathering... as if the builder perversely wanted to hide relief from the desperate... like putting a "BROOM CLOSET" sign on the bathroom. Door faces.... northwest?
<evil inspiration strikes. Next April 1, I will strategically switch some "MEN" and "WOMEN" door signs... the devil makes me do this>

Time goes by, but the colors don't fade. I'm using a piece of
FALL COLOR
for my desktop, October, 2019. Thanks, Nancyann.
