Gary and I headed east on Saturday to Alta Mountain. Last weekend I saw great colors at Green Mountain but we had no sunshine. This weekend the North Cascades would be overcast again but sunshine prevailed east of Snoqualmie Pass. The colors really began above Rachel Lake. Great going up Alta. Better than I expected on the trail to Rampart Lakes. A really fun day in the mountains. I even had an Opus sighting.

Absolutely stunning, Jim. I visited Rampart Lakes towards the end of October many years ago, and was surprised to still find beautiful colors.

There are some good sized potholes about halfway through but otherwise not bad. No issues in my Outback and I saw several regular cars there too. Parking area is a bit tricky with a big rocky depression and people parking poorly. Road is less brushy than past years.
