If you have any unfinished business with any of the trails up there, go now or wait until next summer.

We just did Snoqualmie to Stevens, out Fri. 9/28/18. We met a surprising number of northbound PCTers who'd started in Mexico. I'm afraid few of them will finish.
Poor people, they will just have to come back and visit us again.
We were so lucky! Rain and cold all of Day 2, but 6 days of flawless autumn weather with fall color.
Thanks to Lightning_bug for the ride to Snoqualmie!
Hitched a ride from Stevens to Seattle easily; a cute dog helps a lot.

Wow. I was going to do Buckskin Ridge Saturday/Sunday but got scared off by the forecast. Hit Goat Rocks instead. Glad I did!

Winter is. . .
OK, enough of trite statements.

Ha! The fat lady singing...Very funny; hiked up to the top of Mt Teneriffe (around 5K) and there was an inch ontop! Time to wax the skis.

I even saw some residual traces of white on the upper reaches of Hansen ck yesterday. Nice to see the snow coming but it seemed a sudden shift from warm dry to cold and wet this year. Maybe next week will be dry enough for backpacking...

The Fat lady's performance has been grossly overstated. Road is clear all the way up, except for the last 200 feet before the Brown Bear TH (which is compact, and not really a problem). Trails are mostly clear and the areas which weren't aren't slick enough to merit spikes yet.
Lotta traffic up there yesterday. Larch are a day or two on the early side of peak.

Saturday 10/6, I drove all the way up to the slate peak lookout parking area. Just a dusting of snow around. Road is clear.
