It doesn't hurt that we live in such a beautiful place, you can drop your camera and get a good picture. But a lot of the people who post here show a mastery of the artform. Subject matter, lighting, weather, timing, color, I've never seen such a high concentration of incredibly well executed photos on any site. It's amazing. How many of you look at the image on the back of your camera and think "I just won the nwh calendar contest!"?

Thanks for pointing this out, Cyclopath. I remember when I first stumbled upon NWHikers while recuperating from a broken femur right in the middle of hiking season. I simply could not believe my eyes at the quality and quantity of the pictures I was seeing in the trip reports! I swear spending the summer poring over the TR’s and drooling over the amazing array of gorgeous photographs helped me heal much faster than expected. I had that same feeling this evening after looking through the new trip reports just coming in. Thanks to all who have taken the time to get their pictures up, it’s great to see so much quality photographic work on this site!

Couldn't agree more with this.

Due to the plethora of super talented photogs around here, I never think that.

I agree with this, and would add that there are some very talented writers and thinkers here as well.

That's pretty much it for me too. I used to shoot a Nikon FG20 and tried to get those "picture postcard" shots, but now it's a cheap-ass point-and-shoot and I just aim and fire.

I especially like the variety of different kinds of photos that people take, and the different kinds of places that they visit. Thank you to everyone for your photos that show so many different perspectives on this beautiful land.

Heceda Head Lighthouse Past and present, this site has always had awesome photographers. When coming up a little short in photo skills like I do, it helps to just get lucky sometimes.
