I had a party to attend at a friend's cabin in the teanaway this weekend, so I picked a hike to do while in the area. My daughter, Sahale 7, joined me for the trip.
We started hiking the Iron Pk trail just after a bigger group took off. The trail is in great shape with only 2 down logs to cross. It was cold but we were hiking with nice sunny and blue skies. Sahale did a great job going up the trail. At times I had to distract her from complaining about the uphill by playing little games like finding many different colors, rock shapes, looking for animals-all for points! She won:)
We took a couple recharging breaks as we found some nice views at the Iron Pk saddle. Her peanut butter twix bar helped with energy for the final hike along the ridge to the summit. We saw 2 other hikers at the summit and saw the other bigger party across the way on the Teanaway Pk summit. We headed down shortly and Sahale did very well setting the pace back to the TH

That's some serious gain for a little lady. My daughter is 4 1/2 and will do about half that. Sahale does have those r3h genes though.
Making up fun games like that is key to getting them up the trail.

Fun pics and outing. This stretch of high pressure is delivering some extraordinary hiking! To all parents/guardians: Thanks for getting your kids out and about. Not only does it give them a break from the digital/electronic quasi-reality, they are our much needed next generation of stewards.

Gosh, I recall when she was just a gleam in your eye!
Time flies, and she is a lovely young lady.
