Bill H and I spent an amazing day in the envorins above Hurricane Ridge this past Saturday. The crisp fall air and crystal blue skies made for a beautiful hike from Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center along the Klahhane Ridge trail out and back from our objective peak. We also made short detours to tag the ridge bumps along the way. Once below the peak we inadvertently got suckered up the steepening gullies which turned into class 4+ in a few spots. At one particularly exposed place only 100 feet below the top I decided I didn’t want to make the stretch move so I backtracked down about 200 ft and headed along the west flank where I quickly found the easy hikers path that corkscrewed up in a clockwise route to the top. This proper way is class 2 with a short stretch of class 3 below the summit. Lots of people out enjoying the trails above the visitor center on this day. 5.9 miles RT and 2,200 ft cumulative with the ups and downs along the way. Some Pictures follow:
