Also see WW's posts re microbes introduced via dog feces. If you have a dog in the wilderness, consider burying its poop.
I always pack it out. Some valid points though I to hate seeing dogs off leash because they chase animals
Excellent! Now here's an owner that "gets it". Blue bags for dogs, a truly responsible adult. Thank you!
Of course it’s not hard to do any of these things. I understand the frustration when I have someone’s big dog off leash run at me and my Corgi followed by an owner who shows up several minutes later to tell me there dog is friendly makes me mad.

I may not be the smartest, I may not be the strongest, but I don't want to be. I only want to be the best I can be.

Without reading the entire 8 pages of diatribe...so, did the dog survive?

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

C'mon. Don't downplay the fun of huffing indignantly and the joy of taking offence. battlecage.gif

The answer is either yes, no, or maybe. I vote no, but others disagree.

I would think the intersection of the set of duly disabled people (per ADA service animal provisions) and the set of people able to hike into Headlight Basin or in and out of the Enchantments is a very small intersecting set.
A small, but bad-ass set: Rhonda-Marie Avery Sorry for the thread drift, but I just happened to read that article and wanted an excuse to share it.

A dog thread 8 pages long and four days old, unlocked? What's up? tongue.gif I guess it's hasn't been raining for long enough yet.

Dog threads remind me of the time we rented a vacation house too close to a bunch of aging boomers doing an amplified classic rock themed karaoke party till 3 in the AM. But civil(ish) threads stay open even when they should be mercifully shot in the head. Now where’s my old vinyl copy of Inna Gadda Da Vida....

She had a human guide, not a service animal, which would have been worthless for Barkley. The human guide didn't do much better:

In the end, Avery and Griffith strayed so far off course they had run about 100 kilometres but covered only 12 kilometres of the official route. They’d been gone 30 hours, finding four of the 13 books, and had survived near-freezing nighttime temperatures. The pair was searching in vain for the fifth book, worrying about water and other supplies and when Avery heard helicopters circling nearby, she decided to stop. She believed it might be a rescue crew searching for a blind runner lost in the bush. It took the duo 12 hours to make it back to camp.
Barkely is indeed a bizarrely difficult test. I know several people (all of whom have finished numerous 100 mile foot races) who have tried it, two of whom finished. One bud, who was in the party to first do PCT Section J in under 24 hours, did 2 laps (40 miles), reporting that it was the most painful day of his life.

If you did Innagaddadavida with Karaoke, you'd have like 12 minutes to do something else because that's about how long the guitar and drum solo last, lol.

Oh man. The ol’ mandatory extended drum solos of the 70’s where the rest of the band went out for a bowl. These always happened to me during the song where I got the nerve to ask a girl to dance and then had to endure 12 minutes of wretched awkwardness.
