The Seattle Times corrected the online [Katharina] story to more accurately describe meeting at the lake, and then hiking two hours to Stevens Pass. also: • KING 5 story, (YouTube, 1:56) The pilot points to a map at the pickup point at about 1:15

Scott just posted to his FB page. Yikes!! So glad he's ok! "My final 52 miles. 33 miles away from the border I decided to call it. The snow was getting up to my thighs, the weather was getting worse, out of food and with no navigation through a 21 mile fire detour. It was the hardest and frankly scariest five days of my life. I feel really good to call it my finish line. Came down Hart’s Pass into Mazama and making my way home!"

Maybe I'm a big softy, but I still get a little choked up every time I come back to check in on this thread. So amazing.

Nancy, did the clip actually air on GMA? I just scanned today's show online and didn't see anything but may have missed it.

Ok, this the first time in 10 years of reading NWHikers that posts have brought tears to my eyes. Nancyann is absolutely a hero if ever there was one! But several others also deserve praise for all their help in tracking Katharina down! And if anyone hasn't watched the two of them on video, it is must-viewing!!

Wow, this is the greatest thread ever. I almost only ever lurk but I had to log in just to say that. We should all be so lucky as to have a Nancyann. What a heroine.

Thank you again to everyone for all your kind words! Navy salad, I did give credit to the other NWHikers helping out a few pages ago on page 8 of this thread. Tom, we didn’t see anything on GMA, will let you know more if we hear anything. smile.gif

Nancy, how is Katharina's frostbite recovery going? In yesterday's interview it sounded like she still didn't have full fingertip sensation.

Thanks Tom for asking about Katharina’s frostbite. Her toes are fine, but some of her fingertips are still numb. That said, she is in excellent spirits. We were able to track down Jerry Dinsmore at the Cascadian Restaurant in Skykomish this afternoon, and had a lovely visit. smile.gif
