I'm most interested in Cabin Creek and the Methow trail system, but I'd like to ski in other places too this winter. Last weekend I found very little snow at Goat Lake near Barlow Pass, but 6 or 9 inches at the saddle on the Ira Spring trail, which is encouraging (but also higher than Cabin Creek). Nobody has a crystal ball, but I'll be entertained with some good guesses.

No crystal ball needed. On the Methow Trails page, they indicate they started grooming today, but even if they have enough to open it will be just the wider trails out in the open that get groomed. http://www.methowtrails.org/trail-report Some Methow Valley locals (not Methow Trails groomers) started grooming the overlook up at Washington Pass on Thanksgiving, and they have kept that up until now. Highway 20 through the North Cascades is scheduled to close at 4 pm tomorrow though. Early season nearly every year, some of the roads off of highway 20 get groomed. This could be the overlook at Washington Pass, the road to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, the Klipchuck and Lone Fir campgrounds. You can catch news about this at the Methow Trails Facebook page or Nordic Ultratune Blog.

Thanks, both of you! I had no idea those roads off 20 are groomed! I missed it this year but you've changed my plans for next year! smile.gif
