So this was my first XC on SB.
Overall: Pretty good. No bare spots. And the snow was not frozen.
Bummer: Tons ( I mean at least 20 + more unloading at TH)
of those guys on their crotch -rockets.
Even tho' they slowed down for me and the dog.
Those machines did stink up the air; a lot.

Oh, that is how you call them )))
They are loud and the smell is super toxic somehow on this road there are so many and smell seems to just linger and not go away.
Right now Smithbrook will be far busier with sleds, because it's the only place with enough snow and lots of slednecks that are jonesing to ride.
Once the snow line drops to other sno-parks the razzers will spread out.
"and the snow was not frozen"
I seen a Steven's conditions report once that said currently unfrozen snow was falling from the ski.. aka rain.
I know what you mean though.
on another note. there was a huge impassable to autos sized boulder in the center of the road just over rainy pass. this occurred a couple weeks ago. was thinking bilers3 did it intentionally to keep out the wheelers.

Seems more likely to be a natural phenomenon... I mean wouldn't they erect some barrier closer to US-2 if the intent was to keep out the 4x4 crowd ?
I was being facetious.
I agree it was likely natural. it came down mid november in the area that has frequent rock slides just over the pass.
I spent a fair amount of time cleaning boulders off that section of road this summer. probably 2 tons worth.
