Eric Thank you. With young eyes I used to just see the lookout from home on hill to N of Longview. I was somewhat awestruck when we visited site. This mythical Lookout could be driven to? Of course it was locked and you couldn’t go up. Best. PS. Was this used also as part of the AWS, or were there less windy spots in this more populated area?

Keep Calm and Carry On? Heck No. Stay Excited and Get Outside!

I remember deer hunting (late October) in this area many years ago in an area with second growth fir trees about 15-20 ft high. Flocks of Canadian geese were flying south at a rather low elevation, possibly because of the low clouds and mist. But what caught my attention were the many Robins flying south, many stopping to rest on the tops of the Douglas fir trees. I have not seen such a mass Robin migration flying south since. My Dad had a friend who worked for the Wash State Dept of Natural Resources and the DNR guy had keys to many or all of the logging company gates and the DNR guy and my Dad patrolled many of the inaccessible roads in Cowlitz County.
