I supposed folks could now hike with their dogs from the Longmire gate up toward Paradise so long as they stay on the pavement... Or is the Park telling folks they can't be on that road at all?
The road to Paradise is closed to all travel, even on foot. They are still running plows to keep the road open for "essential maintenance".
Some friends of ours son is a LE (Law Enforcement) ranger at Mt Rainier-- his work schedule and the schedules of other LE rangers at the park hasn't changed, so the shutdown doesn't look like it's a better time to get away with scoffing the NPS rules.
