good news. Today I ventured up the road with bike and snowshoes. Biked about 1/4 mile past the summer parking area. Walked the next 4 miles, then snowshoed 2 miles to Emerald ridge. Fantastic day on the mountain. The Tahoma creek trail is the same as it was last year...only one log crossing just got dicier.
Yes, it was gated at the bottom as usual for this time of year. There is a bulge in the road by the gate that allows SOME parking. I've parked there a few times in the past without issue...but I do not know the official ranger-opinion on it. There were ski tracks going in ( old ones ) as well - so others park at the gate I imagine. This would be a nice X-country ski outing given the right snow conditions.
