The Angry Hiker was very funny--this new guy is not. Many of us still miss Bob's hilarious trip reports--which I'm sure included mobs on trails!

I miss Angry Hiker. He'd make the same complaints interesting and hilarious, instead of aggrieved humblebragging about the trevails of a self certified Master Mountain Man.
The bit about the parking does reveal a high level of typical fustercluckery at the management level, though.

The rant in the link holds no candle to the self deprecating and hilarious AH. Not even close.

He voluntarily took it down...well, significantly changed it anyway.
Agree it was over the top, but I tend to favor actions that make people think, even if some get offended. Results are what matter. Maybe more angry rants will help people realize their innocent recreational pursuits do have consequences. Or maybe they'll make people want to wreck up the place just to spite the crankypants complainers, who knows. Personally I enjoy seeing the wide range of human emotion and creative expression, except where it leads to actual violence.

Makes me think about a guy I read about. He was bragging about living off the land somewhere in Alaska and how tough you have to be and how it can kill you. But then he wrote about hitching to town to get his welfare check and a visit to the food bank to get food and free cheese.
The snow fall has gotten more serious and is great to watch this morning. Must go for a walk.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Thanks to this thread, I've discovered the trip reports of The Angry Hiker. What a hoot! So he's disappeared from the forum entirely? No one can get a rise from a PM? No one knows him? Tom?

Dude's moved on from tactless yet valid ranting to shameless self-embarrassment: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2019-01-19.6599251265
It's like some mutant combination of Angry Hiker, Bootpathguy, and (the real) Dr. Evil. Trying to milk it, I guess. But the sequel is never as good. Still, much less boring than the typical WTA post, and I'm not complaining.

The tone and self-aggrandizement is familiar - I suspect this is a female who has posted on this site before.
But no matter; I flagged it on WTA's site as inappropriate.

Ah, does read more like a female...shame on me for not picking up on that, although who cares. Calling out people by name probably does cross the line.
