A cougar with her 3 cubs - that's pretty special, BPG! wub.gif Each time you put up something amazing and I think you've hit the top, you do it again with something even better. I think you'll surprise us with a wolverine one of these days. With your skill and luck, maybe even a sasquatch. Bravo! up.gif

By now shouldn't the bear have checked into Motel Bruin, Extended Stay wing?

Passing rocks and trees like they were standing still

A wildlife biologist claimed this works. I've also read up on it. So I've been experimenting https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/whitetail-deer/human-or-deer-urine-does-it-make-a-difference

I'm also, somewhat surprised that bears are still roaming around here

I think in the PNW that bears semi-hibernate. I find their tracks every month of the year. Less so in winter, of course, but a spell of nice weather will often bring a bear out, I assume to forage, perhaps on cambium later in the winter when everything else is good and buried.

From a WDFW bear biologist... "Sometimes larger males move around a bit in late fall or bears that live close to people that have keyed in on garbage also stay out of the den longer"

BPG - WOW! that video of the Cougar mom and her kittens/cubs is incredible!! One of my favorites of yours (of which you have so many). I was surprised to see 3 youngsters, but after looking it up on westernwildlife.org I learned that they will generally give birth to 1 to 4 kittens, most commonly 2-3. That is a very impressive bull too! I never get tired of seeing them and pics/videos - always so impressive! Thanks for your efforts to film and post these great scenes!
