Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington DC (April 2, 2019)

The past 3-4 years I've never been able to get to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC when it hasn't been windy. This year, finally, I was able to get about an hour of calm conditions around sunrise. The cherry blossoms were magnificent, and a cheerful sight after the drab winter months.

Thanks guys! Washington DC’s cherry blossom festival has become my east coast replacement for the Skagit Valley tulip festival. Equally cool, but in a very different way. I can’t wait for wild flower season. For us it began today! I just got back from a hike - without a camera, unfortunately - and saw a number of flowers poking out of the ground. There was an appreciable difference from the early morning showing to that in the afternoon.
