At first glance it looks like old sedimentary deposits, as most of the eroding slopes appear to be in the area of Echo Lake. I am curious about the amphitheater shaped feature just to the east of Echo Lake though, some of the exposed features seem a little complex for simple sediment but still show weathering patterns that may be indicative of softer material. Kind of strikes me as what Fifes Peak West might have looked like before erosion finished cleaning all of the dirt and softer deposits off. Anyone gotten a peek at it, or perhaps have a few pictures?

It is really cool to see in person if I am thinking of the right area. Hold on, I will pull up photos!

OK, so looking up where you show on the map I was thinking of the area on the other side of that ridge (or two...lol) that points towards Ravens Roost. However, I have to think it is nearly the same. Look for the PCT, just south after Louisiana Saddle.
I'd post photos but I totally forgot I have to have a 3rd party on NWHikers :-(

Sarbar, I was searching the old TRs to see if anyone had already done one for the area and saw some of your old posts smile.gif No worries on the pictures, it looks like there are quite a few formations and features worthy of an in person inspection in the area!

It's a really neat section to hike. Lots to look at! And very few people.
