Spring snow conditions are a little dicey right now, and the 'chute' on Ellinor can be hazardous. Does anyone know what the current conditions are like up there? I'm planning a trip via the winter route in a couple of days. Thank you, I appreciate any info.

Forever mountains.

A recent trip report on wta.org has good information on the current snow conditions.

The snow consisted of 2 weak layers of unstable facets, going about 3 inches deep, then variable weaker layers going down another 1.5-2’, which suggested storm slabs. Hopefully it heals soon via some good ole rain, cause it would suck if the top layers were stronger than the lower layers (resulting in a persistent slab). As a sidenote, the fact that I showed up later in the afternoon might have affected the snow stability; you might have better luck at different times in the day.

Interesting report - in total contrast to someone I know that went up two days ago and needed crampons all the way.
