After my nephew’s wedding in Scottsdale, my brother had a severe case of sticker shock, so we headed to Sedona for some much-needed therapy.
Doe Mountain was a short, steep and very rewarding hike. We stayed for the sunset as a remembrance of our mother’s death ten years ago from lung cancer. Watching sunsets was one of her favorite pastimes.

My parents lived in Sedona ten years during retirement and my mother was in the "Westerners", a weekly hiking group. She knew all the trails there, but Doe Mountain was her favorite for visitors because the payoff was so big for a relatively short and exciting climb. Your photos capture it well.
Bear Mountain right across the road is longer and slightly more challenging with a short scramble section but is one of my favorites in the area.

I’m glad people enjoyed the pictures, sorry to hear about the bad weather while we were gone!
The next day we did a very nice loop over Soldiers Pass with some side trips, probably ten miles. We found an unmarked trail that took us to amazing views of a very deep “secret” canyon. Saw many flowers along the way!
