Looks like they had completed Andromeda Strain on Mount Andromeda in Canada but were hit by an avalanche yesterday (4/17). Search underway. https://www.planetmountain.com/en/news/alpinism/david-lama-hansjorg-auer-missing-in-canada.html https://rockandice.com/climbing-news/jess-roskelley-david-lama-and-hansjorg-auer-reported-missing-in-canada

Not good news for the home team. I fear the worst and pray for them.

Nature exists with a stark indifference to humans' situation.

A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for.

All so young - Jess Roskelly was 37, David Lama 28, and Hansjorg Auer 35. I watched a video not long ago on this site featuring David Lama climbing when Conrad Anker had a heart attack. I was awestruck by the ability of this young man.

I worked with Roskelley's cousin for years. Really sad news.

Lama's performance and judgement with Anker was impressive from the video. Howse Peak is an extremely rugged Canadian Rocky Peak visible from the Icefields Parkway Howse Peak Apparently there was a storm over the weekend in the Rockies and there were several reports of touchy remotely triggered slabs (Avalanche.ca All Reports). Storm snow over several crusts but also a generally overall relatively weak, shallow snowpack.
