Tenacious Tape possibly has met it's match??? My REI Flash 30 is pretty beat.
My favorite daypack thus far. Light, top loader, just enough bells and whistles. Durable, bagged a bunch of peaks with this pack. I'd keep using it for my primary pack but there are several more holes than I remember it having..... DIY repairs and it will be a spare pack.
Looks old enough that you might have bought before REI switched from lifetime to 1 year warranty. Consider taking to to REI for repairs or replacement.
I'll throw this out there. You may want to try the Ozark Trail Lightweight 30L pack. I picked one up because it was only $35 bucks, and I have been impressed with it. To be honest it actually surprised me. It is light and has a lightweight aluminum frame. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Lightweight-Hiking-Backpack-30L/336679279
