Has anyone been out to Easy Ridge lately or at anytime.  I remember looking at it in the old 100 hikes book years ago and thought about heading up there.  the book has it down for a 3-4 day hike if I remember correctly.  Never ended up going because there was no lake to fish.  For those of you that have gone up there what are your feelings, worth it or no.  Thanks for the info.

We have been there several times including as part of Picket traverse. There is a trail to an abandoned lookout site on north side. Which is not maintained. Amazing views small tarns on top. River crossing to trail can be dangerous early season before August.

Been about 5 years.. on an exit.

Is there not a cable trolley to cross the river? We crossed on a log, but could swear we seen a trolley shortly after. It could be on the wrong side(west)of easy creek though.

Not sure how they access it, but there is also a weather monitoring station at the saddle on the west end of the ridge.

We found it by accident after trying to camp on the summit. Best sunset of my life turned into a mid July lightning storm. Being on a bare peak full of old metal rebar poking out from the defunct lookout did not seem like a good idea. So, we quickly moved camp to the lower treed saddle.

The crossing and trail to easy ridge is a mile west of the trolley crossing usually there is a cairn. There is no trail and a difficult bushwhack from the trolley crossing to the easy ridge trail. I did it once and it is no fun, North Cascade brush is nasty. No sand bars and a deep fast Creek.

Its really beautiful; well worth it.  The trail is a bit rough but the views and terrain are outstanding.  Nice tarns and a lake up there too (not too far from Easy Peak).

It's a great trip.  First two days of this trip report has a description: http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8006557

You'd probably want to wait a bit later in the season.  Hannegan Pass trail isn't melted out yet.  And the ford of the Chilliwack is probably running quite high with spring snow melt right now.

I've done 5 trips there, in and out thru Hannegan Pass. If coming from that direction watch for the side trail as you drop to the valley floor and when you first become aware of the nearness of the river. Cross just below where Easy Cr. comes in. Typically I've been there Aug. 1 or so, not even knee deep.

On the other side is a flat with some alder. Watch for wear marks leading southward. Follow the wear marks as they begin ascending from the flat - if you don't see several old constructed log "steps" within a few minutes you're not on the old trail. Brushy at first, then opens up. Some deadfall to tunnel thru.

Ridge itself is nirvana. Memory has Beckey saying one of the better views in the N. Cascades.

Lots to do there scramble up the ridge to view the famous impass, go out to the old lookout site with clear views of Copper Ridge and Whatcom Pass, laze around the tarns, etc. Warning, during a lightning storm things get extremely spicy.
