My wife and I did a ~25 mile backpacking loop in the Three Sisters Wilderness near Bend, Oregon last August. This wilderness area is really neat with a good mix of volcanic geologic features and alpine lakes and meadows. We hiked the "Broken Top Loop" over the course of three days. We averaged about 8 miles a day, so it was relatively easy going, though there was a good amount of elevation gain. If anyone is interested to see volcanic peaks, lava flows, buttes, etc. and is near Bend, Oregon (or wants to take a trip there), this wilderness area is definitely worth a look! Bend is a cool city to visit and the trailhead for this trek was only 1-1.5 hours from the city. I finally got around to writing up a trip report, so here are some of the highlight pictures below.
