First time visitors to WA, and trying to plan a little camping loop. We'll be in this area late May.
Is it possible to camp on the bluff above Trinidad, near Ancient Lake Coulee? We'll be getting in kind of late, and don't want to haul everything down into the Coulee that evening, and it would be nice to just camp next to the car. Also interested in checking out the giant current ripples down in the Columbia at the bend near Trinidad.
Thanks, I just called and left a message.
It looks like that Quincy Lakes Wildlife Area also encompasses the Ancient Lake area, where I know camping is allowed, so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Found this on the WDFW website:
Camping
21-day camping limit within a 30-day period, except when allowed by WDFW posted notice; no residence camps, i.e., encampment, occupancy, or presence that is a person’s principal place of residence (WAC 220-500-100). Camping is allowed on department lands unless otherwise posted.
Let us know if they respond with a different answer, thanks.
