Hi. I'm from out of state and trying to plan a solo hike from Stevens Pass to Diablo Lake. I am going to end at Diablo Lake on the Friday of labor day weekend. I am trying to figure out how to get back to Seattle. It seems like there isn't any public transportation options. How hard will it be to hitchhike to the Amtrak or maybe arrange a ride through here when it's closer? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Trailways has bus service to/from Stevens Pass. https://webstore.trailways.com/buy-bus-tickets/seattle-wa-to-skykomish-wa Supposedly the bus only stops at Steven's Pass by prearrangement. As a practical matter, it's common for PCT hikers to hitch rides to either Skykomish or Leavenworth for resupply or transport. Hitching a ride while wearing a backpack out of the mountains IME isn't particularly hard and I've done it several times. Hitching a ride out of the city isn't something I've tried.

I bet you can get a hitch. It might take a long time though. The real question is how you are ending up at Diablo lake in the first place. I can't recall a logical route between the two places so it sounds adventurous to say the least.
PCT most of the way, then Park Creek Pass and Thunder Creek should do it, right? But there's gonna be a crap ton of snow along much of that route currently. Well from Junction Camp down to Hwy 20 is snow free anyway I can attest to.

FWIW: I once caught a ride from near Goode Mtn in the course of a conversation with other hikers, who then offered me a ride , all I had to do was hike with them to the Cascade Pass trailhead. So the hitching effort may begin well before you are standing on the roadside.

The person is going on Labor Day, so snow won't be a problem.

Yep that's the route. I'm planning at being at thunder the Thursday after labor day, so as long as nothing fresh falls, the pass should be ok. Now would be a whole different thing.

I see with two buses from concrete, I can get to the train. Anyone ever done that? Still need to get to concrete.

I hitched Stevens Pass to Seattle last summer, 1 ride. Solo male, but I had a backpack and a cute dog, so the first hiker with a dog and room in the car picked me up. I waited an hour or so, only moderate traffic. We hitched Cutthroat Pass to Mazama, got a ride from the 5th car (a female companion and the cute dog probly helped). Hitching to Hart's Pass from Mazama was difficult (you want an early morning start for that) but we got a ride from a local PCT angel. We met a PCTer who'd left the Appalachian Trail on a whim (too hot and muggy), got a flight to Seattle, and on some social media site arranged a nonstop ride from SeaTac to Hart's Pass.

Some people have better things to do with their lives than walking the dog. Some don't.

Wolffie, no idea what site? I tried WTA. It also may be too early.
