Just received this e-mail from USGS: Note the term "explosion" and Z=0km (depth):
PRELIM: Explosion M3.3 Z=0km 16:12 6/16 UTC, 11.3 km SW of Royal City, Washington https://go.usa.gov/xmhzK 40cff reply STOP to unsub
I don't find anything online (yet) about this.
No one out there knows anything about this? Weird.... Is there a rock quarry in the area? I'm wondering why the USGS mentioned "explosion" in the narrative.
There was a similar strength earthquake in western ND a few years back, depth was reported as 1/2 km, and located under the Missouri River. I attributed that to "fracking", but I don't know that for certain.
