I wonder if they flew their own plane, or chartered one? Did they fly back off Mt Blanc, or did they have to climb down? Regardless, the words that come to mind: Hubris, entitlement, arrogance.

Nature exists with a stark indifference to humans' situation.

Someone landed a plane on top of Mt. Rainier way back in 1951. Probably was not a mountaineer however. Link to story

I wonder if the “Swiss mountaineers” used the renowned Swiss-built Pilatus Porter STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft in their ill-conceived attempt.

I remember there was a crashed one of those at Lukla airstrip.

They make routine helicopters rescues fairly high on Everest during climbing season. Record was 23,000 ft. up on Annapurna. Could just charter a helicopter for brief summit visit of anything outside of the Himalayas.

Landing a J-3 on Mt. Tahoma. LOL, that would have been something.
