I was hoping that someone on here has hiked the 3 o' clock ridge/Maynard Peak area in the Olympics and knew of the P-38E crash site. I have the complete background history on the crash, just would like to know more about the location.

I was up Maynard Peak last year, didn't spot, or know of, any crash site (though obviously there is a lot of tree cover over that one...). I'd be interested in hearing more about the crash if you have any links.

I have a book that explains the entire crash event and shows modern colored pictures of what remains at the site today.

Aircraft Wrecks of The Pacific Northwest, Volume 2, Chapter 7
The book describes in detail the events that led up to the crash and also a tragic ending to a PV-1 Ventura that crashed while on a training mission/search effort for the P-38E.

I want to go find this one too and any other crashes in the area.
