On one of the maps I found "Trail" from Thompson Lake to Pratt River Trail. I decide to check it. Looks like trail was here long time ago, now it is mostly "off-trail". Here my report: http://mvkazit.blogspot.com/2019/07/pratt-river-loop.html

Cool! Several yes ago I found what seemed to be the start of an old trail from lower Thompson heading toward Pratt river. I wondered how far it was followable.... so you answered my question. At least you had company, ha. Cool trip!

When I grow up I wanna play.

" Crossing Middle Fork river was easy task (this time). " Please elaborate. I was at the Pratt/MFK confluence 2 weeks ago and the crossing looked pretty sporty. Did you find the water to be chest-deep? Hip deep? Thigh deep? Did you use a beefy pivot staff upstream? Looks like you had a long, wet-footed road-walk to finish off. Love these non-trail reports the most.

That was definitely a trail in the old days, but mostly destroyed by logging and subsequent fire in the 1940s. Curiously, the 1990 Mount Baker-Snoqualmie forest plan proposed resurrecting it but that never came to fruition. Here's a couple old maps that show that trail

Interesting trip. Something I've been hoping to so. Crossingbthe Pratt can nmbe a challenge. Any difficulty? Those maps are interesting. Both seem to have some inaccuracies. What Sonqualmie Falls is the first map pointing to?

Thanks Puzzler! This may require more investigating.... perhaps when fewer bugs and the brush is loosing leaves...

When I grow up I wanna play.
