After Steve and I did this trip back in 2017 and then heard the WTA had rehabbed the trails in the area we decided to check out the difference. We took the lower trail over from Myrtle Lake to the Larch Creek trail to make a base camp at upper Larch Lake. Leafguy went along to go fishing.

The trails were gone when we went in 2017 but are now still steep and rocky but totally logged out with tread work. Thanks WTA! It was a 90* day in full sun and we all had trouble getting to Lower Larch to be honest. We made a base camp at upper larch.

The next day Steve and I decided to hike to Pomas Pass while Leafguy fished. The trail had been logged out last year but has new downfall and badly needs tread work.

It started raining just as we started losing elevation to the pass, so we donned rain gear and continued on. Then we hit a washout in a rocky gully that probably could have been crossed in dry weather but looked pretty sketchy in the rain. So we bailed.

On the way back we went to the top on the ridge to get a look into the Entiat.

When we got back to camp I dried out when Steve said, 'I am too wet to dry out and all dressed up and plenty of daylight left so I am going to hike up to Cow Creek Pass, if I don't come back in 4 hours come looking for me'. OK. Anyway, he did come back and said the Cow Creek trail is nicely logged out back towards Myrtle Lake but the trail going down below Rampart looks sketcher than Pomas Pass. We hiked out the next day with a little excitement but it all came out about ok in the end. Good trip guys!

Excellent TR and photos! You're well on your way to becoming something like the Jim K of the Entiat. I mean that as a compliment to both of you! Thanks for posting!

Thanks but my photos are taken with an older iphone and you can probably tell I touched-up the color and clarity with a rudimentary editor to make then viewable. Nothing like the quality you post.
