I'm headed to the Beartooths in August and I was wondering if anyone here knows if its possible to off trail it from Otter lake to Mariane lake?

I haven't been to Otter or Mariane, but I have been to other lakes in the immediate area. Cross country travel in that area is generally very easy and based on a quick look at the topo map and satellite photo there will be no problems at all going from Otter to Mariane. In fact, if you look closely at google's satellite photo you will spot a trail going between the lakes.
