When specific areas around the territory start appearing in "lifestyle" sections of the media (much less Conde Nast Traveler), you can pretty much write them off. Not unlike what happens when various high lakes, etc. end up as feature photos/articles in Backpacker Magazine and Instagram. I stayed at the Captain Whidbey Inn about 20 years ago. Everything about it was great. But now it's "luring a new kind of crowd". Wonderful. What kind, you may wonder. Note the various buzz word "tells":
I was stationed on whidbey island for two years and never heard of the captain widbey inn.. as far as travel went I either drove the long way around thru mount vernon or took the ferry to port townsend to go visit my parents in shelton.
