We used a combination of four trails (Wolf Tree Trail, Burma Road Trail, Summit Trail and River Trail) to circumnavigate Smith Rock State Park. This rock climbing mecca has plenty of hiking possibilities... and while the Misery Ridge hike is by far the most popular hike in the park, roaming around the climber paths on the ridge in the Monument Area is a real treat... and it also offers an escape from the crowds of people that visit the park. One word of caution if you plan to use the climber paths in the Monument Area of the park... you will probably want to check out the Eagle and Raptor seasonal nexting closures before finalizing your hike plans. The loop hike was 7.6 miles, gaining 1850 feet of elevation. Photos, trailhead directions and downloadable GPS track of our loop hike in Smith Rock State Park. ..

"Teanaway 70" Peaks List... a guide to hiking and scrambling in the Teanaway Area. ----------------

That's a fun loop. It gets a fair bit more quiet on the northern half!

A fun ridge hike away from the crowds with extra entertainment provided by a group of river otters on this very hot day.

That is a great hike! I've done your loop before. It's a fun and scenic hike. I did a similar loop earlier this year, but went over Misery Ridge vs. Southern part, and I added up and down the Scar to a great lookout. I highly recommend doing the Scar. Here's a video I made of the hike for those interested: Loop Around Smith with The Scar

I go to the gym religiously.... Christmas and Easter I love sports-bars. Because they collect all the people I don't want to hang out with and put them in one room.
