I decided for a more low key easy backpacking trip than usual. I also decided to take advantage of having week days for the places that becomes a zoo on weekends. Itinerary Start early Monday 8-5 and eat lunch fish at Rachel lake.( Fished 1 hr no bites) Camp at Rampart lakes spend rest of day fishing and enjoying life. 8-6 move camp to Lila lake Summit Alta Return to camp fish and enjoy life. 8-7 leave early, revenge on Rachel ( caught a fish in 15 mins this time.) 4 of the Rampart lakes at least have cutts in it, and so does Rachel lake 6-10 inch range mostly 7 inchers. Lila lake has Rainbows in it, they are all same size cause they were planted at same time about 12 inches. Alta has about a 6 foot down climb on the way to summit I was skeptical but did it anyway, these peaks are starting to get me addicted need to do some more soon. Rampart lakes had 3 other groups even on a Monday night, had Lila all to myself, I honestly like Lila more anyway. Done with my rambling now for pics.

Another camp with an illegal fire ring at lower ramparts that I destroyed, terrible camp location killing grass. In a less impacted area.

Love that area. East Alta is another fun summit, with a bootpath pretty much all the way from the first pond if you can find it.

Comfused re. the downclimb to Alta. Don't recall that. Perhaps slightly off route? Thanks for the pics. Lila looks a little larger than life.

It's certainly possible, I hit it on the way out too which of course was climbing up it. I was shocked by it because how easy I heard the approach was, it was up on one of the false summits that I ran into it. It was taller than I am so I figured 6-7 feet.

Thanks for the clean up. Strange, I havent found trash to clean up in a few years. I wonder why its happening now?

It is somewhat strange, I did not see any trash on my way out really but all this was from the way back. Except the shoe which I found right away at Lila lake.

Hi Tom, It's easy to forget if you haven't been there in a while because it's pretty minor, but I was just there a few weeks ago, and getting down off the last false summit involves using your hands and *maybe* turning around to downclimb it.

That was how I did it, I'm sure some people with more experience would be comfortable not turning around, but that was the way I felt was safest to do.
