Jake R, Jake A and I set out for Arriva and Fisher this week. After hiking some easy peaks in the Sawtooths the day before we got a later than planned start up to Easy Pass around 8:30 on Monday morning. The route up to Silent Lakes was kinda sh##ty down low but easy to figure out. By 2pm, we had camp set up and were making the mile sidehill traverse to Arriva.

The route on Arriva wasn't our favorite. The gully to the key notch is loose talus that traditions to hard-packed scree near the top. The scramble is class 3 and switchbacks up a series of ledges to the summit. On the way up we climbed a short class 4 step on downsloping ledges but avoided that on the way down. Nice views although peaks to the west were mostly socked in.

The descent took some rockfall management, then we nailed the traverse back to camp 3:15 after we left. We enjoyed a nice evening at camp and went to bed early.

We were headed off towards Fisher at 5:30 the next morning. The route was much more fun than Arriva, with a short class 4 step a few hundred feet below the summit. 1 hour camp to summit. Good views.

A 15 minute break on the summit and we were headed down. 45 minutes summit to camp.

We left camp at 8:15 and were drinking beer at the car by 11:45. One nice bear spotting on the way out. The switchbacks back up to Easy Pass went by fast, not doing them during the heat of the day for once!

I wouldn't really recommend Arriva unless you hate your peroneal tendons, Fisher was fun though.

Hey iron, we used Stefan’s report for beta. Think you were on that trip? It references said class 4 step and states that you used a hand-line confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif
