Lightning ongoing for three hours with cloud to cloud lightning continuous for extended periods. It was the first time I've ever felt some risk at home as lightning can come through glass apparently. At it's most intense, lying on the couch, I felt static build-up with occasional odd pains in wrists, fingers and jaw. Then there would be a big overhead discharge.
I had found similar effects (joint pains, stiff neck, muscle cramping, etc. on two occasions while tented under an intense storm in the mountains on two separate occasions, including last summer near Glacier Peak.

I felt the same way, not entirely safe in my home. The PCT hikers must have had a rough night!

I was feeling bad for the PCT hikers and anyone else up in the mountains during those hours.
We drove from a party in Enumclaw home to Sultan during the storm and the lightening show was stunning the whole way. Some sections of the roadway had so much water on them, it was like driving through a lake.

Yes, impressive even by Midwest standards. I don't ever recall seeing bolts move among the clouds like that.

Periodically I have flown from N Carolina to Seattle at night and during the summer I have seen lightning storms, some with cloud to cloud lightning at high altitude, I would guess in the 25,000 to 35,000 ft elevation. The cloud to cloud lightning was below the plane. On a flight from LA to Seattle, on the approach to SeaTac at about Federal Way, the Alaska Airlines plane was struck by lightning (loud boom and white flash).

I was camping out that night with my kiddo at a little campsite off the trail to Guye Peak (very close to a lakelet about 300 feet from the summit). We were prepared for rain, but not for lightning. Sunset was spectacular and the flashes were even more so. Luckily no strikes came close. But I think that it is an experience he'll remember for a while. To his credit, he didn't panic, though I know that he was pretty scared - as was I.

folks may remember that we had a similar storm, though not quite as intense or long-lived back in August '13. It also happened quite a bit later at night, so probably a lot of people were in bed.
I was off work due to injury and as I'm a night owl by nature I was awake and around midnight when the storm was really going good I decided to head down to the boat launch on Harbor Avenue and scored the picture below.
Wish I'd been able to get out and take some pics in this most recent storm.

That is a solid lightning shot. Nice grab! I've taken 10s of thousands of lightning photos over many years in much more active locations in order to get just a few solid pics.
