Picture from bumping lake this afternoon.
Snow level seems to not be too bad in South Cascades still, word of mouth report is only a few inches on Chinook pass. I suspect it will melt out by Thursday.

About 2" at Chinook at 11AM, still snowing, ice on roadway. Returned from Seattle that way today.

Folks going out might want to know the west side of the Cascades in the north only got about 3" above 4000' or so but is probably deeper around 6000'. South facing is already melted out below that 6000' elevation, but snow lingers where not south (or so) facing. For instance Sauk Mountain looks bare from below. Farther to the east, I am sure it is deeper and has been colder and cloudier.

NWS Seattle:
Quote:
.CLIMATE...Seattle ended September with 3.32 inches of rain. The combined rain totals for the last 4 Septembers ( 2015-2018 ) was 3.51 inches. The 16 days with measurable rain was the most number of days with rain in September in Seattle in over 40 years ( 20 in 1978 ) and tied with 1959 for the 3rd most rain days in September in the 75 year record at Sea-Tac airport. Yesterday also was the end of the water year. The water year precipitation total for Seattle was 35.82 inches ( normal is 37.49 inches ), the driest water since 33.98 inches in 2008-09. Felton
It would be interesting to understand why? Perhaps the abnormally warm water off shore and extending especially into Alaska maintained the repetitive and persistent high amplitude ridge offshore of which we were on the east side of.

The Tonasket Ranger Station yesterday said snow is one foot deep at 4,000 feet and increases as you gain altitude, including the roads.

Isn't it October now?

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Hey, I gots a black dog! I could make cookies but I won't cuz I have too much quality control to do when I make them.

A few inches around 4800'. Nice day to ring in October. Was hoping there might be a few blueberries left but no luck.

4-6" here at 4500ish above Wahtum lake north of Mt Hood. The road to the worksite is steepish but it was ok. Clear and gorgeous now as we wait for our counterparts to get their end of the link out past Arlington up and running
