Went out on Thursday to check out some of the Eastern Washington wildlife areas via the green dot roads. These areas are vast, lovely sagebrush hills. Areas I checked out are Oak Creek, Wenas, and Whiskey Dick. I barely scratched the surface of these areas.
I started my day going to Oak Creek. I went over via hwy 410 so I made a stop along the road and did the walk around Tipsoo.

At Oak Creek I went up Bethel Ridge. I didn’t drive all the way up to the ridge. I stopped around 2800 and then road walked to where the road crests the ridge. After exploring Bethel I did a short walk across the street from the wildlife center along the Teton River.

From Oak Creek, I drove over to Wenas Valley to go up Sheep Company Rd to access the Wenas Area. I went up Roza Ck then up Buffalo Rdg. This section of Roza Ck burned recently. I stopped on Buffalo Rdg before it heads up the hill. I walked the road to the summit of Gracie Point.

After Wenas I drove through Yakima Canyon, (watch out for the Bighorns along the hwy) then to Vantage to check out Whiskey Dick. Unfortunately, it was basically near sunset when I got there. I drove a bit of Pump House to watch the sunset on the windmills and catch the moonrise.
Fun day. Didn’t really see any wildlife but birds.
Note these areas may get busy once hunting season starts soon. Roads aren't car friendly you want some clearance. I was fine in my Rav4. Discover Pass required for these areas.
