Jim Kuresman: the patience of a stone, generous, funny as hell when he gets going. Kim Brown: so much divergent knowledge and interest in her brain. Also funny as hell. Haven't hiked with many other folks. If not with one, or both, of the above, hiking mostly solo.

Mostly solo these days. But back in the day: flatsqwerl (whose birthday it is today), the mighty EastKing, ewb, J. Lewis, and M. Lewis. All of them very patient, resourceful, and strong. It's amazing the places you can go with the power of the team. ~z

Oh man I can't believe I did this. bawl.gif She is by far the best and most accomplished hiker I have ever ever hiked with by a longshot. I forget that she is still a member here though rarely shows her face anymore. Were it not for her example and motivation I would be dead by now. Thanks Reststep. IP revised.

True, though not sure I understand the interest in her brain part. When you're with Kimbo the rain just isn't as wet.

“Kimbo”. OMG, that is one of the funniest lines ever!😂😂😂. I assume this is the Kim/Jim K version of Kimye?

RichP- I remember our first outing, P3.... Still haven't learned the secret hand shake yet. TypeE- and Tanner, Baxter and Boscoe. Lots of memorable day hikes! FWB! Hoodoo trip with Franklin, Yana, TDD and Dicey. A very special hike with famous NWH'ers! Franklin truly missed!

...divergent knowledge and divergent interests, all located within her brain.

Sometimes, with Kimbo, the rain is actually wetter, but that's the fun part.

I've had a few good ones over the decades. Some real good ones. But hands down, the best ever hiking buddy I've had would have to be my daughter: she can keep my spirits up when facing a tough uphill with a heavy pack, and miles still to go. Lots of laughs. Always game for a hike or backpacking trip (three wonderland trail trips, and hopefully one next year. Can be tough to get out of the tent in the morning though, lol). .She will always be my best hiking buddy.

Terpy, Alice, and The Used Dog. The Used Dog did become quite vocal when we were on the way home down a trail. We entrusted him with the beer sometimes.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
