If the temps stay low enough, yeah. Doesn't take much to shock the trees at higher elevation into turning. Overheard a Ranger at the Rainy Pass trailhead talking to some other hikers who suggested they were about a week out from peak too.

Did an out and back run between rainy and cutthroat pass on the pct yesterday. Larches are getting to prime in many sections and minimal snow on the cutthroat side.

Half the trees on the Blue Lake trail are peaking, the others mostly have some green left in them, a few are beyond peak. Probably about 3 to 4 days for the remaining holdouts.

Beautiful photos, Kenji. Great job with reflections amid the mix of water and ice.

Larches are in good color on the PCT south from Harts Pass to Grasshopper Pass. Road was bare to Harts Pass as of 10/11/19.

They are terrific but today is most likely the last day. Few needles had fallen yet, but most are yellow and it will get windy with several storms this week. If you have the chance, take the time today.

That's not larch, the trees just look yellow because of the low angle sun.
