So you can't be bothered to back up your assertion that administration quotas are arbitrary. If it was so easy for me to "look up" myself as you suggested it should have been even easier for you to cite them. Perhaps said articles don't actually exist.
It is called Sealioning, a common trolling tactic, require documentation by the person you are arguing with while never providing proof for your own unsubstantiated claims.
Randy, I didn't ask you to "look it up," rather, I asked you to research. If you need help understanding the difference, send me a PM. MC, not sure if this is directed at me or Randy. I assume the latter, since I made no demand for proof from him. "Sealioning?" I learn something every day.
Brian you are the one making the claim that the NPS and USFS are arbitrarily setting quotas. What evidence to you have to substantiate that they are arbitrary? Or is it "just my opinion man"

"Salmoning" is when you ride a bike on the wrong some of the street. I guess it could apply to hiking SOBO, too.

You're asking if an opinion is just an opinion. Arbitrary means without good reason, in this case it's about whether or not the impact is acceptable. What kind of evidence would you like to see exactly? Do you have any evidence of proof that Brian's comment is worth getting worked up about?

Randy, since I have a little free time, I've been perusing some of your posts here. Almost without exception, your modus operandi is to insult, belittle, demand "proof," reject evidence as it is provided, and, most importantly it seems, arrive at the last word. Rarely do you provide any personal background evidencing your expertise. You often embarrass yourself without realizing it. Your recent failure to understand the basics of GPS comes to mind. If you can show me, on this site, where you have ever--even once--accepted as valid the proof you have demanded from another poster, I'll provide you with links to my graduate work as it relates to the topic of wilderness and access. Cyclo, very much appreciated--especially since we so sharply disagreed recently on electric bikes. Such fairness and balance is hard to find. Salute.

So just an ad hominem attack on me, but no evidence to support your claims on the subject of this thread.

Well I'm asking questions not answering them. But this is a discussion forum where all of us are talking about this new policy. I don't think any of us can change it, so we're really trying to understand what's going on, at least I think that's what the goal is, and maybe say how we feel it should be. In an ideal world some of us might consider a different viewpoint and - god forbid - somebody might learn something or experience a little personal growth. You keep demanding that Brian R prove his opinion when you know very well that proof only applies to objective facts, not subjective opinions, and that's not a fair thing to demand, which you know. I'm saying all of this because I think there's some good discussion to be had, but not by browbeating people for expressing their opinions. In the offline world, most people I know don't have an opinion about hiking or land management at all. Even the ones I don't see with are better than apathy and disinterest.
