I took the long way home after a visit to the west side and hit a few highpoints along the way. It made the drive quite a bit longer, but it was nice to revisit this part of the state. First up was Moses Mountain with its tall lookout tower. This is a drive-up peak outside of Omak. It's the 16th most prominent peak in Wa, so a worthwhile endeavor if you're into that kind of thing. No views as a cloud capped the summit on this day.

After spending the night in Tonasket I got an early start on The Mt Bonaparte Trail. No cloud on this summit and the hike up is pleasant on a good but rather steep ORV trail.
Mt Bonaparte Trailhead, 5000.' A short and steep ORV trail goes to the top. Only a small piece of paper indicates that this is the trailhead.

After Bonaparte I drove east on Highway 20 to Sherman Pass for the Old Stage Trailhead and Copper Butte, the highest point in The Kettle Range and Ferry County. I got sketched a bit with the icy road so parked about 2.5 miles from the trailhead and walked. No biggie.
I had to walk the last 2.5 miles to get here due to the icy road.

I had plans to hit Abercrombie but decided it was time to get back home. Filed it for later.

Hi Rich! Love the Kettle Crest hike report. Karen D did an overnight there last spring & loved it. Next time you are on the west side- let's hike!
