Was in the area for some waterfall photography, but recent rains and snowmelt were too much for good pictures. Headed up to the White Chuck TH to watch the sunset. Snow/ice on the last mile or two of road, but didn't pose an issue for me. Views were outstanding.

Wow. This one is amazing--especially the color (sky and mountain) and the clarity of the mountain in particular. Great stuff. ~z

Climbed whitechuck last monday, nov 11. was able to drive to the TH without a problem. hike in was on and off snow but easy. the trail up whitechuck is very steep with just a little snow in places so pretty easy. at the summit ridge we encountered frozen snow so we put on crampons and took out the ice axe. however, most of the time we were walking on rock with our crampons because we didn't want to take them on and off. got pretty close to the summit but there was an exposed rock section which we didn't like with the crampons on so we bailed. probably wouldn't have done the actually summit anyway as there was a thin layer of frozen snow on the slab.
in summer i find this a fun hike/climb but it is not for the inexperienced as there is significant exposure on the trail.
i've also done this in the winter using ice tools and rope which is much more exciting!

Super photos! Sure wish I knew of this location when I was actively hiking and backpacking...the photos portray a most special and spectacular side of our Cascades! Kudos!
