Tom, you have to admit it was interesting.

Refer to forum rules. We discourage contentious topics. Some latitude is given if there is hiking relevance.

I thought the saloon need not be hiking related, but I see the plantation thread was also locked.

the bee in the bonnet means a lot of content needs to be locked for consistency.

or... release the bee(s), and address the miscreants instead of swatting everything.

We discourage such topics to encourage participation that fosters and builds a sense of community. What does it serve to debate the history of slavery other than to entice the thread vultures to infuse negative energy. Nobody's mind is going to be changed by debating that topic. You can see where it was heading the last few posts before it was locked.

Either people choose to get along regardless of differences, like most people, or you have nothing anyway.

This new standard about changing minds is another thing I don't get. I have no idea what that has to do with any of the topics it comes up in.

Some people get energy from arguing endlessly. Create your own forum and see how that works out.

You claimed your mind was changed, Tom, why do you now claim that no minds were changed?

He pasta away.
